George Brown
My name is George Brown. I live in Lockhart River for all of my life.
I work for the c.d.e.p. and I like to find something good to do with the work I doing . Well I'm doing park and gardening at moment . I like to fine something new like weld or Trainingship - like something you can do to enjoy.
I like to go fishing or hunting. Well - see you later!
I want to give up smoking.
Field trip to set Quoll traps
Peter and Father Brian working with John to learn how to set up a Quoll camera. John is wiring up chicken legs for bait. They are wired to a tree about a metre from the camera.
This practice run is near a lagoon on the Claudie River. It could be Quoll country - there are lots of big rocks. It might be too close to water. Quolls like really dry country.
John wears gloves so his smell does not get on the chicken legs and to keep his hands clean when handling the camera.
The camera is in a camouflaged box so it is pretty hard to see. John is tying it to the tree. The strap is a lighter colour. Follow it to see the camera box on the tree.
This was a training run so we packed up the gear and went home afterwards. John is setting up 10 cameras around the Cape to try to find quolls.
Peter might make a movie about the training to explain how the camera works. Watch this space!
